Nutzung

Wir haben versucht beiden Versionen Android und Windows das gleiche look & feel mitzugeben. Deshalb sind die Handhabungshinweise für beide Plattformen zu verwenden

Bluetooth-Kopplung

Auf beiden Plattformen, Android und Windows, muss der OOBD Dongle gekoppelt werden, bevor man Ihn benutzen kann. Bitte folge der Standartanleitung für Android or Windows wie man ein Bluetoothgerät koppelt. Die PIN Nummer zum Koppeln des OOBD Dongle ist 1234.

Windows COM port

Unter der Plattform Windows verbindet sich die Applikation nicht direkt mit dem OOBD Dongle wie unter Android, sie nutzt einen COM port stellvertretend welchen Windows mit diesem in Verbindung bringt. Dies erlaubt auch anderen Programmen wie Terminalprogrammen und anderen Fremdapplikationen mit dem OOBD Dongle sich zu verbinden und Ihn zu nutzen.

Welches COM port zugewiesen wurde kann in den Bluetooth Geräteeinstellungen eingesehen werden:

Einstellungen

In dem Menue/Einstellungen wähle Dein OBD Gerät aus. Sollte es nicht in der Liste auftauchen hast Du vielleicht vergessen es vorher zu koppeln ;-)

Unter der Plattform Windows wähle den COM- port, welcher deinem BT Dongle zugewiesen wurde (wie bereits weiter oben beschrieben)

In Android sind die Skripte fix unter dem Verzeichnis /sdcard/OOBD abgelegt. Unter Windows kannst Du das Skriptvereichnis wählen. Das vorgegebene Verzeichnis ist (your Documents)/OOBD-Scripts, aber es steht Dir völlig frei ein anderes auszuwählen.

PGP- Einstellungen

Falls Du PGP verschlüsselte Skripte benutzen willst oder musst (z.B. wegen Datenschutzvorgaben der Firma), musst Du die Schlüssel importieren um die verschlüsselten Skripte zu entschlüsseln und zu benutzen.

  1. Vom Schlüsselerstellungsprozess und vom Schlüsseladministrator hast Du verschiedene Dateien erhalten, die auch die groupkey.sec und userkey.secumfassen. Vor der Parametrierung der Einstellungen, lege diese beiden Dateien in dem Skripteverzeichnis ab, das Du vorab während des Setupprozesses festgelegt hast.
  2. Wenn Du nun in den Einstellungen bist , wird OOBD feststellen das siese beiden Dateien nun dort liegen und in dem Menue den Knopf “Import Keys now” sichtbar machen. Wenn Du diesen Knopf drückst werden die beiden Dateien importiert und aus dem Skriptverzeichnis dabei entfernt. Der Text den Knopfes wechselt darauf hin zu “Delete keys”
  3. Nun ist die “Use PGP” checkbox nicht mehr ausgegraut und kann angewählt werden. Bitte wähle sie jetzt aus. Dies ist wichtig um OOBD in die Lage zu versetzen Dich nach deine persönlichen Passphrase zu fragen wenn die Applikation startet. Ohne diese Passphrase wird es Dir nicht möglich sein eins der ausgewählten Skripte aufzurufen und zu benutzen.

Wegen der zunehmenden Funktionalität hinter dem Programm und wenn Du berechtigt bist andere Fahrzeuge mit zugehörigen Skripten zu untersuchen wirst Du eine neue Datei groupkey.sec von Deinem Schlüsselverwalter von Zeit zu Zeit bekommen. Wenn dies passiert, kopiere die erhaltene Datei groupkey.sec wieder in Dein Skripteverzeichnis und gehe erneut die Einstellungen durch. Der Knopf zeigt nun “Import new group key”. Wenn Du nun den Knopf drückst, wird die Datei groupkey.secwieder in OOBD importiert.

The Diagnose Screen

The Diagnose screen consists of two tabbed panes, the Diagnose pane and the Output pane

The Diagnose Pane

The Diagose Pane contains two buttons and a list of items.

The Item list

In the Item list you'll find the description of the item, the actual value and a set of flags

The Item flags

Symbol Name Meaning
Back Indicates the jump back to the previous menu
Update Item will be updated when the Update Button is pressed
Permanent Update Item will be updated permanently as long the Timer Toggle Button is active
Log Changes When value changes, new value will be written to output
Combined with Permanent Update, this will create a continious log
Submenu No function, just a visual indicator for a further sub menu

The Update Button

The Update Button starts an update of all actual visible items, which are marked with the update flag

The Timer Button

The Timer Button updates all actual visible items permanently, which are marked with the timer flag

The Back- Button

If the user selects the Back- Button, which is part of the mobile phone itself, it is checked if the item list contains any items which are marked with the Back flag . If yes, the first found item is called, which then jumps back to the previous menu.

If no such item is found, the program jumps back to the main screen.

Changing the item flags

The Update, Timer and Log flag on an item can be changed by the user. Just hold the list item on Android or press the RMB on Windows. A context menu which will you to toggle the flag and by that the behaviour of this list item.

The Output Pane

The Output Pane contains a button row and a text field. The textfield is editable, so an output can be changed before saving or sending.

The Output functions:

- Logging Active If inactive, no futher text will be added to the output
Store Allows to save the text or send it by one of the available message channels like Email, Twitter etc., depending on the actual Android device settings

First Success: Trying out the OOBD Standard Script

After you have now reached this point after going through the process of installing and setup and understanding the screens of OOBD, it's now time to have a first real touch with a real vehicle with OOBD with the OOBD standard script.

Bugs

As said, OOBD is still in beta state. If something seems to be wrong or is not working as expected, please check the OOBD- Bugtracker is this is a known problem. Please feel free to add comments to the known bugs or raise new ones. Please respect that bugs reported just by email or only verbaly will not be considered.
